I was thinking about it the other day, and not only has it been quite some time since I posted a blog entry, but the last few I have posted resemble the emotional writings of a teenage girl. I realized that my blog is my emotional outlet when I can't sleep in the middle of the night and I need to just unload and feel connected. I wouldn't want to put that stuff in my actual journal for my grandchildren to read some day! They'd think I'm plum-crazy! Ha ha!
(Helllllooooo.... is ANY one still out there reading this blog?! I feel like I'm yelling into a dank, empty tunnel. Maybe there would be a bat somewhere in there that would like to hear my ramblings....)
But, things are going to change! Yes, sirree. Now that I am taking this class on "Writing Your Personal History," I have realized that my personal journals do not just need to be filled with my exciting events and stories that I would LIKE to pass down to my grandchildren, but also those very real moments when I am struggling to keep my head above water. I mean, if I am willing to share those personal moments with you - my fellow sporatic blogger and reader - then why not also share with family? Why always pretend that nothing is or was ever difficult? Some of my most favorite pieces of literature come from the author's moment of letting personal experience and emotion flow out onto paper.
The good news for you is, since I will be putting more of those middle-of-the-night rants in my journal rather than in this blog, I will be adding a better diaspora of blog posts.
Now, I can't promise I will add more than one a month, but at least they'll be more interesting and diverse.
Here are some things I plan to add (your sneak peak into the future of this blog!):
- I was invited to join a dance troupe that performs international folk dance (Irish, Russian, Gypsy, Romanian, etc.) here in the D.C area. I am starting to learn an Irish Step Dance piece - a dream of mine! If I am not too embarrassed, I will post videos and photos of performances.
- I am going to venture out of my non-artistic, non-technological comfort zone and buy a digital slr camera. I will be playing around with lenses and settings to learn the art of digital photography and will most definitely be posting my practice work to this blog and would love and appreciate any tips or suggestions/comments. So, hooray for more pictures! They'll still all be of my kids, I'm sure, but they'll be.... ARTISTIC?!
- I am taking writing classes - all kinds of writing classes - so you just might see another side of me. The poetic side? The literary side? The quirky side? The dark, yet funny, side? Okay, so you probably already see that with my quirky posts. But, I will add some fun things here and there. And, some day, when I'm a famous writer, you can say, "Yeah. I used to read her private blog. We're tight." Okay, now I just sound like an old mom who is trying so hard to sound cool for her kids. Sorry about that. I'm getting old!
- Autumn! Holidays! Vacations! The most exciting time of the year to post ANYTHING!
